Armenia and Kazakhstan are partnering with Firebird and NVIDIA to deploy 250 MW of AI infrastructure, aiming to build domestic AI capacity and join the global AI economy.
Artificial intelligence has rapidly evolved from a niche research field into one of the most widely adopted technologies in history. It is now embedded across sectors including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and scientific research, where it powers diagnostics, fraud detection, defect prevention, and drug discovery. The technology is increasingly seen as foundational, comparable to electricity or the internet.
The expansion of AI is driving unprecedented demand for computing power. Every AI interaction—queries, reasoning steps, and autonomous agent actions—requires processing capacity, turning “tokens” into a new unit of economic activity. This shift is redefining global infrastructure needs, with compute capacity becoming a strategic resource.
A key theme is that countries cannot rely solely on foreign AI systems. Just as nations develop their own energy infrastructure, there is growing recognition that domestic AI capabilities are essential for economic competitiveness, security, and innovation. This has led to increased investment in localized AI ecosystems.
Armenia and Kazakhstan have selected Firebird and NVIDIA to build national AI infrastructure. The initiative is designed to support a wide range of users, including researchers, startups, enterprises, and government institutions, providing them with advanced computing resources.
Over the next 12 months, Firebird plans to deploy 250 megawatts of AI computing capacity across both countries. This large-scale investment is expected to significantly expand regional compute availability and position the two nations as emerging AI hubs.
The infrastructure is intended to attract international companies seeking locations to develop and run AI systems. It is also expected to stimulate local startup ecosystems by lowering barriers to entry for AI development and enabling new products and services.
The initiative frames data centers as “AI factories” that convert energy into intelligence. This model highlights the growing linkage between energy resources and digital output, reinforcing the strategic importance of both in the AI era.
The Armenia-Kazakhstan initiative reflects a broader global shift toward national AI infrastructure, positioning compute power as a critical driver of future economic growth and technological independence.
