SpaceX makes AI its core
Edition of August 13, 2026 at 12:02 AM UTCFull article

SpaceX’s AI ambitions moved from rhetoric to deal-making as the company completed regulatory procedures for a $60 billion acquisition of Cursor, the coding and AI platform. Elon Musk told employees that AI could represent 99% of SpaceX’s value within five years, and separately said AI revenue may surpass the entire space business as soon as next month. If those claims hold, SpaceX would look less like a launch-and-satellite company and more like a vertically integrated real-world AI platform, combining orbital infrastructure, robotics, software agents and proprietary compute into one balance sheet.
