A new artificial intelligence tool designed for small businesses could profoundly transform work organization and employment.
Anthropic is rolling out a plugin called Claude Cowork, designed for very small businesses and SMEs. Available for download online, it integrates directly into the work environment and offers around fifteen ready-to-use workflows. The goal is to simplify the day-to-day management of small organizations.
The tool covers a wide range of functions: human resources, marketing, sales management, content creation, customer follow-ups, and invoice reconciliation. These automated processes help reduce the time spent on repetitive administrative tasks.
The system is built on two components: workflows, which chain together multiple complex actions, and skills, dedicated to single tasks. Users can tailor these modules to their specific needs, making the tool flexible and scalable.
The development is based on a survey conducted among company executives, identifying the main daily pain points. The features therefore target the most common friction points in the operational management of small businesses.
Small businesses account for nearly half of the United States’ GDP, a segment still largely untapped by advanced AI solutions. With this initiative, Anthropic aims to capture this massive market, which has so far been dominated by more basic tools.
The issue is not direct job replacement, but a reduced need for labor in certain support functions. By automating administrative tasks, companies may be able to operate with smaller teams.
This type of tool marks a step toward deeper integration of artificial intelligence into daily operations. Companies may gradually delegate more tasks to these systems.
Claude Cowork illustrates a rapid shift in how small businesses operate, where automation could boost productivity while redefining employment needs.
